Saab Key Programming
Saab cars built since about 1994 come with an immobilizer system built on coded keys. A new transponder is required for inclusion of an additional key, and special programming. This is usually handled by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.
This can be expensive. It is always advisable to keep an extra set of keys available.
Transponder key
The transponder can be described as a key that is equipped with an electronic chip. The chip sends a signal when the key is placed into the ignition. Once the rows and columns are soldered, it's the time to connect them to the key switches. To do this, put a diode over each pin of the key switch and then solder it. This will protect the pins on the key switch from current and also prevent them from being shorted. A diode allows current to only flow in one direction. Jump starting the battery
A majority of people keep a set in their trunks to jump start a car in case of emergency, but it may not be the best option for vehicles with newer technology. They have numerous computers and digital devices that communicate with each other. Start the vehicle that is working and allow it to run for approximately two minutes before connecting the cables to the one that is disabled. Replacement case
Saab owners usually have only one car key, and if it is lost, they will be charged. The dealer will charge you top dollar if you only have one working key.
